DELIVERING DREAMS

Sitting down to write this I cannot believe summer is halfway through. To say the last few months have been busy would be an understatement. We’ve delivered projects to clients that have been in the making for months, if not years. We’ve welcomed new amazing clients, we’ve had back to back photo shoots and last but not least we are incredibly excited to announce the launch of our new online shop MARKET by Anja Michals.

introducing market…

Owning my own store has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl, when I would play “shop” for hours in my bedroom. In fact most of my childhood books still have price tags on them if you were to look closely!

MARKET is an idea we have been thinking, talking and conceptualizing for years. An online store that is home to a curated, eclectic assortment of new, preloved, vintage and custom furniture, decor and lighting, pieces that make a home. It’s an online destination where my clients, community and fellow designers can shop.

Those who know me well, know I have a love for vintage and am pleased to have a dedicated vintage section on MARKET, featuring several items that we have re-modelled to bring back to life and give my own touch. Over the next few months we will be sourcing more one-of-a-kind pieces to add to this collection.

With the launch of MARKET, comes the introduction of our bespoke collection of custom made pillows. Another project we have been working on in the background for some time. All of which are handmade in the USA, using fabrics from my favorite textile designers throughout the country.

MARKET has been a true labor of love and is a genuine reflection of the things I love. Over the next few months we will continue to add more categories and new products as we strive to deliver on our mission of making your home more comfortable, inviting and of course…..beautiful. I will be adding some of my favorite companies including new ceramics, lighting, bedding and apothecary.

SPANISH MODERN PROJECT

Last month, we photographed the completion of our beautiful Spanish Modern home in the Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco. Working on this project was a genuine joy, where we were given the creative freedom to bring our vision to life.

In the kitchen, we did a complete remodel featuring custom built red oak cabinetry with an ebonized stain paired with brushed silicone bronze hardware and calacatta stone countertops.

On the walls, we used a handmade casale rustico subway tile, which we also used to wrap the range hood; on the floor we used a beautiful white and grey Lorca Marble square tile. This tile was rustic yet modern and I just love how it finishes off the space.

To open up the space, we intentionally designed the kitchen to have a balance of wall cabinets and open shelves .The latter we added a bespoke retro brass rail to, which I’m truly in love with. Off the kitchen we created a beautiful banquette area for casual dining as well as a coffee station and pantry. It was a tight space so was a bit challenging, but that is my favorite part!

In the kids bathroom, we created a space purposeful for our clients' young children to enjoy, but also elegant for visiting guests featuring a custom made vanity with rattan detail, unlacquered brass faucets and a walk-in shower with a modern farmhouse brick tile in a herringbone layout.

SUMMER FAVs

When Summer comes around I make sure to switch out my sheet set to Kerry Cassill. Her soft, lightweight sheets spell “Summer” and are so yummy. We hope to be carrying her line in the shop soon so keep your eye out. The fun part of this line is that you can mix and match prints and keep it interesting.

One of my favorite places in the summer is the Hamptons. A true slice of heaven - Love Adorned - is a charming eclectic shop with such beautiful jewelry as well as some fun home goods.

Vacation Essentials…

I have multiple colors of these Hunza G swim suits. So comfortable and flattering. I have tried lots of tinted moisturizers and this is one of the best! Lightweight, yet great coverage this is my go to on a daily basis. I’m also obsessed with my new Oliver Peoples sunglasses from the Gregory Peck collection.

Enjoy the rest of sweet summer, either traveling or having a staycation, soak it up!
